Known affectionately as “The Garden of God”, Kitulo National Park is unlike any other park in Tanzania. Perched at 2,600 meters above sea level on the Kitulo Plateau in the Southern Highlands, this park is a botanical haven — celebrated for its spectacular wildflowers, alpine meadows, and unique ecological diversity. It’s the first national park in tropical Africa to be established primarily for the protection of flora.

The best time to visit Kitulo National Park is during the rainy season (November to April), when the flowers are in full bloom and the meadows burst into colour. The dry season (May to October) is cooler and better for hiking, though the floral display is less prominent.
